Mountain Thrush

Mountain Thrush - Turdus plebejus

Bird name: Mountain Thrush
Latin: Turdus plebejus
Other:
Family: Turdidae • Thrushes
Range: Southern Mexico to western Panama

I only saw these Mountain Thrushes in the high mountain forest in western Panama, where they were not uncommon but neither were they very approachable, generally flying soon after making eye-contact.

The above picture is a subadult. Mountain thrushes are generally brown with lighter underparts. Dark eyes and bill. Attractive song. Where I was, their habitat didn’t overlap with the Clay-colored Thrush.
